Two old rivals meet

Strath Haven, an old arch rival and once a fixture at the top of the Central League is off to their slowest start in quite some time, with a 1-2 Central League record going into last night's contest with the Aces. There was a stretch awhile ago where either Strath Haven or Lower Merion won the Central League title 9 out of 10 consecutive years. However, one would be foolish to discount the Panthers as they always used to peak when it counted most.

LM certainly had their hands full last night as they used a formula that seems to be working for them this year. Play tough defense and look for your spots. There was no scoring during regulation as Aces' goalkeeper Will Rosenbaum recorded 7 saves behind the strong LM defense. But just 1 minute into sudden victory overtime senior Gian-Luca Hail got one by the Panther keeper and the Aces recorded their 3rd Central League win in a row, along with their 6th shutout of the season.

With Conestoga losing 3-2 to Radnor, this moves LM into a tie at the top of a very bunched Central League race. LM will face off against one of those teams at the top this Thursday when they host Penncrest at 3:45 PM, and another on Saturday when they entertain Marple Newtown at 10:00 AM.
