It has always been said that when these 2 sister high schools get together, records, league standing, rankings, they all go out the window. This has always been, and always will be, a pride game, and it was no different today as the 2 Lower Merion School District soccer teams pounded away at each other for 80 minutes.
Going into this afternoon's match up LM's defense had let up fewer goals, and Harriton's offense had scored more goals. Who would prevail? Harriton took advantage of an opportunity goal as they jumped on a loose ball in the 6 yard box to take an early 1-0 lead. The Aces pushed back with several quick counter attacks but today it would be the Rams making the key defensive plays.
In the 2nd half Harriton was willing to stay back in a defensive posture, take away the long ball, and force LM to play short. The Rams were also better in the air, and with most of the Aces chances coming that route it proved to be the difference. When all was said & done, Harriton walked away with a 1-0 victory.
This dropped the Aces overall record to 7-3-1 (4-3 league) with a non-league contest coming up this Saturday at Methacton @ 1:00 PM.
