Home Opener vs Plymouth-Whitemarsh!

Posted by Chris Schreiner at 6:17 AM on Wednesday, September 6th 2017

After a 2-0 opening day win away at Avon Grove, the Aces played their first home game of the year against Plymouth-Whitemarsh. It was the first day for school for the Aces, a warm and humid afternoon in the high 80's. The temperature on the turf field field was close to 100 degrees. The Plymouth-Whitemarsh Coloniels started the 1st half off quickly with a great scoring chance just 3 minutes in. It all started from a corner kick that was headed from 10 yards out and hit the crossbar, but was then cleared by the LM defense. The Aces defense would shut PW down the rest of the game as Sebastian Connelly had to make just 3 saves in the 1st half and 5 total for the game. Just 2 minutes later, LM had a great opportunity as Harrison Bloch went in on a breakaway on a nice pass from Max Shaprio, but the Coloniels goalie came up with a big save. That was the theme of the first half as the Aces midfield and forwards Tim O'Hare,Max Shaprio, Harrison Bloch and Issac Brainsky peppered the Colonels goalie, who had to make 9 saves in the 1st half, which ended 0-0. All that would change for the Aces in the second half. Lower Merion opened the scoring on a goal from Junior Tim O'Hare, assisted by Senior Max Shapiro. Junior Harrison Bloch netted the next two goals, one being assisted by Junior Isaac Brainsky. To cap off the game, Senior Attie Tekie netted the fourth goal with about 10 minutes to play and the Aces cruised to a 4-0 win in the season home opener, bringing their record to 2-0.

The Aces open up Central League play at home this coming Thursday at 3:45 pm versus Haverford High School.
