LM Soccer Playoff History (1945 - Present)

* The District 1 Playoffs began in 1954, with the 2 best teams in the district playing for the title. There are now 24 teams competing for this coveted (big school AAAA) championship each year. Over the years District 1 Playoffs have also been added in 3 smaller school classes (AAA, AA, & A).

* The Inter-District Playoffs, between champions from District 1 & District 3, began in 1954, and went thru 1972.

* The Central League Playoff, a one game Championship game between the league's 2 top teams, was only played in 1984, '85, & '86, with Lower Merion winning all 3.

* The State Playoffs, between all the soccer-playing districts in PA, began in 1973, and an official PIAA State Champion was declared each year. Over the years State Playoffs have also been added in 2 smaller school classes
