The Aces traveled to Radnor for their biggest game of the season thus far. The Raiders had a good team, having a good season, and LM needed a win in the next to the last Central League contest to put themselves in a position to win the league title. It was the Aces' speed & quickness against Radnor's height, and it promised to be a good match.
In the 1st half the Raiders got the lion's share of scoring opportunities, but with outstanding play by LM senior goalkeeper Sebastian Jenkins, including 2 big acrobatic saves, the half ended 0-0. In the 2nd half it was a different story, as the Aces scored to go one up and began to back take control of the game. Then came the back breaker, as an own goal tied the score 1-1. This seemed to energize Radnor and late in the half the Raiders got the game winner, handing LM their 1st loss of the season 2-1, and also ending their hopes of a Central League title.
It will be a tough loss to take for a team that has played so well the entire season, but they have to regroup Saturday with a strong showing in a non-league game with West Chester Rustin (10:00 AM) and get their confidence back. Next Tuesday night will be their biggest measuring stick of the season, as they travel to Conestoga (7:00 PM) to play a Pioneer team who is ranked #1 in the state.
