Looking Back
LM went into the 2016 season having graduated 11 seniors from 2015, including 7-8 starters. A conservative prediction would be that they would hope to finish somewhere in the top 3 or 4 in the Central League, and secure a District 1 playoff spot. They accomplished that, and much more. They recorded 10 regular season shutouts, finishing 14-2-2 overall. They were in a 2 horse race for the Central League title with powerful Conestoga (ranked as high as #2 in the nation), until they lost to Radnor 2-1 in the next to the last league game. They finished their league play traveling to Conestoga for a night game and took the highly ranked Pioneers to OT before falling 2-1, good for a 2nd place Central League finish.

After a 1st round bye, the Aces beat Wissahickon 3-1 in the 2nd round, and went
on to the District 1 quarter-finals before losing a 2-1 OT heartbreaker to
#2 seed West Chester Henderson, after being ahead 1-0 with less than 3 minutes
to go in regulation. The Aces' final record was 15-4-2, scoring 46 goals and
allowing only 16. If not for a few badly timed injuries in the playoffs who
knows what could have happened. Looking at the finished product, I'm one LM
Soccer Alumni who is very proud of this team.
I will continue to post all the District 1 & State Playoff results, All-League selections & other honors, Alumni Game Info, and more. Thank you all for your continued support for Lower Merion Soccer.
