Last night, under slippery sleeting conditions at Hershey stadium, the Conestoga Pioneers, District One's 2nd seed, took on Elizabethtown, District three's 2nd, seed for the PA State Title.
It was a close game from start to finish, with the Pioneers getting the better of the chances in the 1st half. Despite a few great looks they couldn't score, but neither could Elizabethtown. 0-0 at halftime.
In the 2nd half the pace of the game picked up, and midway thru Conestoga took the lead. The goal came from a nice run down the left wing by Nick Jennings, with 'Stoga's Chris Donovan setting up in the slot. After a perfect set up pass Donovan 1st timed it into the corner. That would be the only goal of the game as the Pioneers captured the AAAA PIAA State Championship.
