Aces roll Penncrest

After having their Saturday showdown with highly ranked LaSalle postponned due to wet fields, LM hosted Penncrest this afternoon in a Central League contest. The Lions, despite an 0-6 league mark, were looking for a season-making win against the 2nd place Aces.

It didn't take long to dampen those hopes as Ben Hriscu put LM ahead 1-0 on a goal coming off a long throw-in by Shane Votto, a weapon the Aces have used many times this season. Three minutes later it was Votto, making a highlite reel behind-the-leg move, capped off with a 20 yard upper 90 blast. Just 4 minutes later LM made it 3-0 on a goal from Trevor Yu. Right before halftime it was Votto getting his 2nd of the game with a picture perfect header off a Matt Lindheim corner kick.

Meanwhile the defense of Tyler Niles, Noah Blodget, Will Podrasky, and Mark Abi-Khatter kept the Lions from getting too close to keeper Connor Yu. Kenny Lassiter began the 2nd half with a wonderful chip over the Penncrest keeper and it was time for the regulars to take a seat.

This 6-0 shutout brought the Aces overall record to 10-1, with a 6-1 league mark. Due to the Jewish holiday the only other game this week is a Wednesday league contest at Marple.
