LM Soccer Awards Banquet

Last Friday night the Lower Merion Boy's Soccer program had their annual Awards Banquet at the Cynwyd Club in Bala-Cynwyd. Achievements for the LM Varsity, JV, & Freshmen teams were all recognized, as well as individual achievements.

The Varsity, coached by Nico Severini (in his 7th year as head coach) & Pat Cronin, finished with an excellent 15-4-2 mark, good for a 2nd place finish in the strong Central League. They went on to the District 1 AAAA quarter-finals before losing a heart breaker in overtime 2-1 to eventual District 1 AAAA Champion West Chester Henderson. The "Team Together" award was won by junior Eric Hillsberg and the "Winning is an Attitude" award by senior David Smith. All-Central League picks are as follows:
1st Team - Tim O'Hare (Soph), Sabastian Jenkins (Sr), & Ryan Tillman (Sr);
2nd Team - David Novacich (Sr)

There were also 7 LM players who received All-Main Line recognition: Tim O'Hare (So), Sabastian Jenkins (Sr), Ryan Tillman (Sr), David Smith (Sr), David Novacich (Sr), Max Shapiro (Jr), Alex Moureaud (Sr), & Thomas Podrasky (Jr)

The JV, coached for the past 7 years by Dennis Hagan, finished with a very impressive 15-1-1 record (the best LM JV record since 1985). The "Team Together" award was won by Igor Fast, and the "Winning is an Attitude" award by Wyatt Joseph.

For the 2nd consecutive season the Freshmen team finished undefeated, with a 6-0-3 campaign. The only other time that has happened in the 39-year history of the Freshmen program at LM was also in 1985. Quite an accomplishment by 4-year coach Marc Gottfried. The "Team Together" award was won by Adam Hetzelson, and the "Winning is an Attitude" award by Quinn Black.

On top of all that, the Bala-Cynwyd 8th grade team also finished undefeated. This certainly paints a very rosy picture for Aces' soccer for the years to come.

I will be making occasional posts during the off season, especially news & dates for LM Soccer Alumni functions for next Fall, but will be back on a regular basis when pre-season 2017 soccer starts next August.
